Clone Wars, Memorable Moments

Since it seems that the EIFS6 will not be being released anytime soon I thought I’d look back and pick out some of my favorite and most memorable moments of The Clone Wars. Whether they be dramatic, emotional, funny, references to the movies or even some Easter eggs The Clone Wars gave us five great seasons of fun and Star Wars. We’ll start with seasons one through three (With all the cool stuff the blog was getting a bit long so I divided it up) here are some of the moments I remembered and please feel free to add any I missed in the comment section because like they say “There are too many of them” to remember.

The “You’re reckless little one” scene from the movie will probably always be my favorite not just for the scene itself but knowing Anakin’s future you got the feeling that the show would have to become darker and more dramatic as they got closer to ROTS.

The Fate of Ahsoka Tano

As some of you might remember, I was once a strong partisan of the “Ahsoka should die” clan. Not Because I hated her; she was -and still is- my favourite Clone Wars character, and perhaps even my favourite Star Wars character. But the thought of the Expanded Universe getting its hands on her fate irked me so much that I thought that death was better, way better.

But since the S5 finale, my view on that has changed.

Will we ever get the Clone Wars ‘bonus content’?

September 23, 2013 in SaveTheCloneWars, The Clone Wars by Firebird

As we talk about the end of The Clone Wars and what might have been one thing keeps coming up. The ‘bonus content’, what will it be, when will we see it, in fact WILL we ever see any of it?

Star Wars Nostalgia, a Look to the Past and Future

For years I was in love with the Star Wars films, so when I heard they were making a fully animated series between the films, it was only natural for me to feel the excitement as I had for when Episode III was released. With the show being based in the Clone Wars, I felt it to be familiar territory, for this wasn’t the first attempt at a Star Wars TV show. I can clearly recall the Clone Wars mini-series, but that’s all it was really. A mini-series that had some great moments, but offered so little content due to its length. With Star Wars The Clone Wars it was the total opposite in animation, time length and story. Although, unlike Clone Wars, where I simply watched it on Cartoon Network, the only way for me to see The Clone Wars episodes was through Youtube. Yet the contents of the show easily made up for sitting on a hard wooden chair in a small room. The adventure, the excitement and the animation just made the show such a treat to watch. Of course, like anyone else I had to go through the agonizing wait for the next season, but it always paid off in the end. With every season the episodes got better and better. Like an aspiring long distance runner going farther and farther. And for more than four years it made my weekend.

The Clone Wars, a Lost Future

This week would have probably been the season six premiere of Star Wars: The Clone Wars and as we all know that is not going to happen. I thought it would be an appropriate time to look back and see just where we are in regards to the show and the so called “bonus content” which for the rest of this blog will be referred to as EIFS6 (episodes intended for season 6).

Clone Wars, the Lost Season

September 20, 2013 in SaveTheCloneWars, The Clone Wars by Firebird

But for George Lucas’s decision to sell LucasFilm to Disney, right now we would have been looking forward to Season 6 of The Clone Wars starting on Cartoon Network tomorrow or possibly a week later. There would be an episode guide up on sw.com with a trailer and a few teaser images. Speculation would be reaching fever pitch. Would we be seeing Ahsoka again in the first arc or would they save her for later. Maybe we’d find out what Sidious has planned for Maul, or what’s happening with the civil war on Mandalore? There have been rumours of a Bounty Hunter arc. Of course we’d have had a couple of Season 6 trailers by now and would have some tantalising clues about other arcs, the clone one (generally know, speculatively as the Order 66 arc), Plo Koon’s discovery, the Yoda arc, the delayed Clovis arc.

Saving the Clone Wars, time for a tag change?

May 19, 2013 in SaveTheCloneWars by Firebird

A thought for those using #SaveTheCloneWars as a Twitter tag. Because of the order of the words the only people who will see those tweets (unless you include another tag) will be people who follow you or follow the #SaveTheCloneWars tag. That’s pretty much preaching to the choir.

I think we ought to figure out a replacement which starts with #CloneWars because then any search on #CloneWars will bring that tag up too, automatically increasing the visibility of the continuing campaign.

Settling in for the long haul

May 14, 2013 in SaveTheCloneWars by Firebird

I know that some people aren’t ready to give up on their desire for The Clone Wars to come back for a full Season 6 and beyond. Meanwhile others have ‘made their peace’ with the loss of the show and are getting rather short with the former group. However, rather than fighting with each other there is a middle ground option which I think all TCW fans can get behind that is both realistic and would give us the character and story resolutions that the ‘bonus content’ almost certainly will not. A final TCW movie.

How do we get this movie made? By asking 🙂 and by continuing to show our love and support for the show. Will this happen under Bob Iger? Personally I think not. His preferred business model has no space for creativity, integrity or giving fans what they actually want. So I pin my hopes on 2015 and his replacement, be that Kathleen Kennedy or someone else.

In light of that I suggest a new strategy, (pauses for everyone to say “Let the Wookiee win!”). It’s not particularly exciting and it’s going to take a conscious effort over a long period but I think the best we can do is keep TCW VISIBLE continually for the next 2 years and keep talking about a second movie. Then a big push when the new Disney boss is announced.

So, what can we do to keep TCW visible? First, keep tweeting with the #CloneWars tag, every time you watch an episode, or buy something TCW related, or something reminds you of it, or anything really. Aim to use the tag at least once a day, every day. Maybe we need a new tag too, something not too long to show we want a second movie?

Blog, create, use whatever social media you’re on. If you go to DisneyWorld or Disneyland wear a TCW shirt. Let LF/Disney know that we want more TCW and that we’re not going to stop wanting it. Don’t give up because there’s no visible sign of progress. This fight is going to require patience as well as passion.

Dear Disney…

Get creative (if you haven’t already)

Use whatever artistic or crafting skills you have to produce something to show your love of The Clone Wars, and then upload a picture of it to Flickr (or any other image hosting site) tagged with ‘Savetheclonewars’. Then share it with the world via twitter, FaceBook, even sw.com and post a link here in the comments 🙂 And maybe email copies to Disney and LF while you’re at it?

Edited because really this is more than a one day thing 🙂
