“All of my old friends look like doctors, all of his look like you.” – Doctor McCoy to Shaw (Sister’s favorite quote from the episode.)
And we’re back for this week’s OS Star Trek blog; it’s good to be once again in friendly Federation space let us tell you, but no one is supposed to know that we were on a secret mission into the Romulan Neutral Zone, so shhhhhhh. This week’s episode is “Court Martial.” You can read the synopsis here http://www.startrek.com/database_article/court-martial and watch it here http://www.startrek.com/watch_episode/8kMGlVQlFwYH

Moving on just three years and The War Games is a much more polished story. Ten episodes long it starts with the Doctor and his companions apparently arriving in the middle of a WW1 battle field, but all is not as it seems.

As part of the Doctor Who 50th celebrations the BBC has released a book and DVD set called Regeneration. It contains all the stories in which the Dr regenerated. Today I watched the first of them, The Tenth Planet.
While the original air dates of 8 to 29 October 1966 means it’s not technically before my time I don’t remember the first two Doctors and good grief was 1960s TV a different beast! It was interesting to watch but slow, and the lack of involvement by the Doctor himself, leaving the companions to take action on their own initiative felt odd. Reading the Wiki entry I see that by then William Hartnell was suffering from ill health and wasn’t in the 3rd episode at all because he was too sick to work.

First off, we would like to thank Mindless Droid for filling in for us last week. He did a good job writing about an episode that does not particularly stand out in any way.
This week’s episode is “Arena.” You can read the summary of it here, http://www.startrek.com/database_article/arena and you can watch it here http://www.startrek.com/watch_episode/mikNELiCbYTB. The story is also based off of a science fiction story of the same name that neither of us has read, so Sister found an article comparing them, and you can read it here http://barebonesez.blogspot.com/2011/04/fredric-brown-on-tv-part-five-star-trek.html.

Since as Yoda might have said “Ended the Clone Wars have” (thanks a lot Disney) the need for additional blog posts has arisen here on The Nexus Route. So until we get to see the additional Clone Wars episodes we have been promised, one of, well actually two of our esteemed members Siblings (Brother and Sister) had the cool idea of blogging the Original series Star Trek episodes as they air each week on Me-TV. Knowing that I was a longtime Trek fan they asked if I would like to add my thoughts as well and I was more than happy to.
