The Mortis trilogy a three part arc of very unique episodes. The arc raises a lot of questions. Questions that Dave Filoni said we have answers to but that “we firmly believe that we should really not answer directly a lot of the questions about Mortis”. That pretty much sums up the DVD extra. I for one actually like that they left the questions unanswered it can lead to many different points of view.

Fan Expo Canada

Last Friday, I had the chance to go to FanExpo, a Canadian convention much like Comic-Con. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience, having never gone to a fan convention. I saw many characters and items from the stories I love, and here’s my time.

On Friday morning, I woke up quicker than I ever had all summer and ran out the door. My brother and I took the bus to Toronto and the Convention Centre was a short walk from the station, and during our walk already we saw fans dressed up from many genres, notably anime and comics. We saw Doctors, Deadpools, and even an eerie Slenderman walk by, and all of it was so exciting to me that my brother had to tell me to calm down. Oh, so fun. Arriving at the Centre, my biggest excitement was that I knew I was in the same room as people like Carrie Fisher, Ian McDiarmid, and even Stan Lee. (Yes, I saw them all.) We showed our tickets and I ran straight to the floor.

Dr Who: The Movie

August 28, 2013 in Dr Who by Firebird

Strangely enough another one that I never watched before. I guess I really had become disillusioned with the franchise, it was a bad time to be a Whovian.

I feel bad writing a second negative Who Blog but I had some major problems with the plot. Any random human opening the Eye of Harmony? The Doctor being half-human? It doesn’t make any sense. I can see why it wasn’t well received and really I’m glad it tanked rather than becoming a template for a future TV series.

Farscape: Exodus from Genesis

August 24, 2013 in Farscape by Firebird

The source of a mysterious rise in Moya’s temperature turns out to be an infestation of Draks, a race of intelligent insectoid creatures. Aeryn quickly succumbs to Sebacean heat delirium, a potentially fatal illness, forcing Crichton to bargain with the Draks, who agree to lower Moya’s temperature in return for inhabitation of Moya until their breeding cycle is complete. However, this uneasy truce is shattered when Peacekeeper Commandos raid the Leviathan. There’s a full blow by blow description of the episode here

The Clone Wars Movie

Welcome to The Nexus Route’s live blogging of The Clone Wars movie well not exactly but if I do a normal review I tend to go on and on and take forever to edit down my comments so I thought this was a good way to start a little discussion of the movie. So let’s begin right after the little flower music THX thing Here we go.

1. It’s odd to see the Warner Brothers logo instead of the 20th century fox fan fair
2. Cool Clone Chatter
3. Plo Kit Luminara Mace
4. Yoda and Admiral Yularen talking to each other I actually got to ask Tom Kane how he performed scenes like that
5. “What’s our plan of attack sir” “Follow me”
6. Our first glimpse of Captain Rex always a steady hand boy I wish we would have gotten to see his fate pertaining to order 66
7. The Battle of Christophsis you could tell by some of the small details that this show would get progressively better
8. Meet Ahsoka, always liked the character except for the poor choice of costume which we found out was GL’s idea
9. Ventress sure became a complex and interesting character in ways you never expected
10. Ahsoka sure was snippy back then. Seeing her in The Wrong Jedi you realize just how much she had grown
11. Glad they kept Snips but ditched Skyguy

Dr Who: Time and the Rani

August 21, 2013 in Dr Who by Firebird

I hadn’t seen this one the first time round as I’d pretty much stopped watching during the Colin Baker period. The sixth Doctor was just too obnoxious, the stories weak and his companions didn’t make things any better.

So every year or so there’s a big Star Wars Celebration that makes younger fans beg their parents to take them and older fans beg their employer for a pay rise.

I was one of the lucky ones who got to go to a Celebration this year and there was never a dull moment, even while waiting in line thanks to Angry Bird Star Wars.

Farscape: I, E.T.

August 17, 2013 in Farscape by Firebird

With her restraining collar gone a Peacekeeper homing beacon starts broadcasting from Moya. Leviathans it seems are originally wild creatures which the Peacekeepers capture and modify to use as transport ships. Pilot explains that during these modifications the ship is drugged which is why he didn’t know about the beacon.

In an attempt to muffle the signal they land in a bog. This works but the crew still face the problem of removing the beacon which will cause Moya a lot of pain, maybe even kill her, and do it before she is crushed by her own weight. It turns out that there is a substance on the planet which can be used as an anaesthetic and Crichton, D’Argo and a reluctant Aeryn go in search of it.
