Farscape: Thank God It’s Friday… Again

The crew follows D’Argo down to the city of the Sykarans, and is made welcome by the monarch Volmae. D’Argo, along with the general populace, has become a slave to the addictive, mind-altering tannot root. The artificially euphoric people work endlessly for the powerful Volmae, their minds clouded by the tannot. In his efforts to free D’Argo, Crichton encounters the Sykaran resistance movement who force him to let a large live worm eat its way into his belly as protection against the tannot. In order to free them all from the planet, Crichton realises that he must break Volmae’s hold over her people.

Clone Wars, Memorable Moments

Since it seems that the EIFS6 will not be being released anytime soon I thought I’d look back and pick out some of my favorite and most memorable moments of The Clone Wars. Whether they be dramatic, emotional, funny, references to the movies or even some Easter eggs The Clone Wars gave us five great seasons of fun and Star Wars. We’ll start with seasons one through three (With all the cool stuff the blog was getting a bit long so I divided it up) here are some of the moments I remembered and please feel free to add any I missed in the comment section because like they say “There are too many of them” to remember.

The “You’re reckless little one” scene from the movie will probably always be my favorite not just for the scene itself but knowing Anakin’s future you got the feeling that the show would have to become darker and more dramatic as they got closer to ROTS.

Doctor Who: Rose

Almost 9 years had passed since the 1996 movie when Doctor Who finally returned to our TV screens. I’m probably in an unusual position, as a Brit who lived outside of the UK for Billie Piper’s pre-Doctor Who career I had absolutely no preconceptions about her. To me she was a complete unknown. Christopher Eccleston was almost equally an unknown to me, he’d done some high profile movies, none of which I’d seen, so the slight familiarity of his face might have come from one of his guest roles on TV.

So, on to the first episode.

The Fate of Ahsoka Tano

As some of you might remember, I was once a strong partisan of the “Ahsoka should die” clan. Not Because I hated her; she was -and still is- my favourite Clone Wars character, and perhaps even my favourite Star Wars character. But the thought of the Expanded Universe getting its hands on her fate irked me so much that I thought that death was better, way better.

But since the S5 finale, my view on that has changed.

Star Trek: The City on the Edge of Forever

City on the Edge of Forever often viewed as the best of the Original series episodes and deservedly so. It won the 1968 Hugo award for best dramatic presentation. The background of the production of the episode is almost as interesting as the episode itself here are a few links it’s worth a read http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/The_City_on_the_Edge_of_Forever_(episode) and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_City_on_the_Edge_of_Forever.

Will we ever get the Clone Wars ‘bonus content’?

September 23, 2013 in SaveTheCloneWars, The Clone Wars by Firebird

As we talk about the end of The Clone Wars and what might have been one thing keeps coming up. The ‘bonus content’, what will it be, when will we see it, in fact WILL we ever see any of it?

Star Wars Nostalgia, a Look to the Past and Future

For years I was in love with the Star Wars films, so when I heard they were making a fully animated series between the films, it was only natural for me to feel the excitement as I had for when Episode III was released. With the show being based in the Clone Wars, I felt it to be familiar territory, for this wasn’t the first attempt at a Star Wars TV show. I can clearly recall the Clone Wars mini-series, but that’s all it was really. A mini-series that had some great moments, but offered so little content due to its length. With Star Wars The Clone Wars it was the total opposite in animation, time length and story. Although, unlike Clone Wars, where I simply watched it on Cartoon Network, the only way for me to see The Clone Wars episodes was through Youtube. Yet the contents of the show easily made up for sitting on a hard wooden chair in a small room. The adventure, the excitement and the animation just made the show such a treat to watch. Of course, like anyone else I had to go through the agonizing wait for the next season, but it always paid off in the end. With every season the episodes got better and better. Like an aspiring long distance runner going farther and farther. And for more than four years it made my weekend.

Doctor Who: Edge of Destruction

edgeofdestruction

This serial is a very unique one and something that we’ll never see done today. The BBC had originally commissioned only four episodes, but that then expanded to thirteen not long after. This left them with two episodes to fill on a very limited budget and only two months until it’s filming was scheduled to start. With no money to hire extra actors or make new sets, this story became a sort of bottle episode set entirely in the TARDIS and only featuring the four regulars.

The Clone Wars, a Lost Future

This week would have probably been the season six premiere of Star Wars: The Clone Wars and as we all know that is not going to happen. I thought it would be an appropriate time to look back and see just where we are in regards to the show and the so called “bonus content” which for the rest of this blog will be referred to as EIFS6 (episodes intended for season 6).
