The Day of the Doctor

November 24, 2013 in Dr Who by Firebird

I thought about knocking out a review last night after watching the post-show party show but decided that a little more consideration and a second viewing would make for a more coherent blog. Obviously this is full of spoilers so read farther at your peril if your haven’t seen it yet.

Doctor Who – The Doctor’s Wardrobe and screwdrivers

Each regeneration brings a new Doctor. Along with a new face and personality, he comes with a unique outfit and that’s something that interests me, the Doctor’s rather bizarre sense of fashion. And let’s not forget the different tools and gadgets we’ve seen throughout the series like the iconic sonic screwdrivers and psychic paper.

An Adventure in Space and Time

I sat down to watch this drama expecting it to be pretty much a simple retelling of the genesis and early years of Doctor Who. I certainly didn’t expect to tear up, but it was really sad. You wouldn’t think that would you? Doctor Who is great, how can the story of how it started be sad? Well it can, and it was, but it was also brilliant. I highly recommend it (when you’re not going to be embarrassed about crying).

The Clone Wars Unresolved Destinies

The last couple of weeks on Clone Wars Friday here at The Nexus Route we’ve been looking back at season five with reviews of this season’s Blu-ray release. The Blu-ray DVD release are as good as expected even with the lackluster “bonus” (why do I hate that word oh right the Disney thing) footage The Clone Wars animation is made for Blu-ray and is just amazing, a true work of art. Re-watching the episodes is both fun and disappointing. Seeing the great strides in story and animation that the show had made in its five seasons it’s sad that it was cut short before the full story could be told. So as we wait for the release of the EIFS6 early next year and what they might bring I thought we’d take a look at some of the characters that that have been left in cancellation limbo.
