He finds a child sitting outside his office, he’s about to send her away when he finds out that she’s from a children’s home, nobody to miss her. The Daleks are one of the most powerful and feared races in all the universe. They originated from the planet Skaro and were once a race of humanoid scientists and teachers known as Kaleds, living at peace with the other inhabitants of their planet, the Thals. However, peace was not to last and eventually a neutron war broke out which would last for one-thousand years and totally decimate their planet. Realising that their species would eventually mutate, a group of Kaled scientists, lead by the cripple Davros, created a travel machine for the creature their race would soon become. However, Davros had a greater ambition and started tampering with the minds of the creatures and made them into monsters without pity or mercy. They would hate everyone and everything that wasn’t a Dalek and, to ensure their ultimate survival above all other races, would wipe everything else out.

After giving my thoughts on the Deception arc a couple of weeks ago, I decided to move on to the next arc, and the Season Four finale, the Revenge arc. It was the arc that bought back Darth Maul from the dead (which was quite a controversial decision at the time) and also continued the story of Ventress.

The Doctor and Rose are aiming to see Ian Dury in 1979 and end up in Scotland in 1879, a usual sort of mistake, and there they meet Queen Victoria. Unfortunately the clothes which Rose had picked out for their planned destination are now far from suitable.

The Cybermen were once just like us, living on Earth’s twin planet Mondas. Eventually, Mondas drifted away to the outer reaches of the Solar System and its people began to die from either the cold or new diseases. Their scientists came up with a solution and began replacing limbs and organs with machinery. These operations eventually became mundane and soon it began impossible to distinguish machine from person. Even the brain was altered and emotions removed. They got the immortality they sought, but it costed them their humanity. They then piloted their planet back towards Earth and intended to drain its energy, destroying it in the process. Landing a force at the South pole, they intended to take some humans back to Mondas to save them from the impending destruction. But they fought back and stalled them long enough for Mondas to absorb too much energy and explode. The Cybermen were defeated with no place to call home, but they were far from powerless, for their overriding goal is survival and when they are most venerable is when they are most dangerous.
